From the Principal

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope you enjoyed the warm weather while it lasted!

We were truly blessed with glorious living weather throughout the holidays and last week.

As we move into this term, I encourage students to make the most of the opportunity to start afresh. New beginnings allow us to do just this and it is important for students to recognise that they play the major role in any success they achieve.

This week we have held Learning Review Interviews for students in Year 8-10. It is gratifying to see the number of parents who took the opportunity to meet with their daughters’ teachers. The quality of education the students receive is very much dependent upon the quality of the partnership between you, the primary caregivers, and the college. If you were not able to attend Learning Review Interviews last Thursday, another opportunity exists this Tuesday 15 May.

I trust Term 2 will provide your daughter/s with the opportunity to consolidate on their start to this year, by extending their skills and understandings and increasing their ultimate performance abilities to the highest possible levels.

Principal

An update on the Multi-Purpose Centre

It is all steam ahead on the new Multi-purpose Centre at Kildare College.

Before we broke for holidays at the end of Term 1 the builders were completing the final stages of the slab, ready for the first pour of concrete. Last week, they completed this momentous task, and... just like that, it's complete!

The next week will see the stormwater and various electrical services being installed. Following that, the walls will be installed and the full size and scale of the building will be understood as it all comes together in a more finished structure!

Its footprint on the Kildare College masterplan is impressive, and we’re looking forward to keeping you up to date as the project commences.

Student Safety

The safety of your daughter is our highest priority. Before and after school drop offs are a busy time on the roads with many students walking, riding and using public transport to get to school.

Recently we have been experiencing more congestion regarding cars blocking intersections or obstructing other road users when families have been dropping off or collecting their daughters on the Valiant Rd and Mercedes Drive intersection.

Eye Catching Meals

The Year 12 Food and Hospitality class were asked to make 'Social Media' style meals, this meant making something that was worthy posting a photo of and that was in trend.

Currently layer cakes with drip icing as well as edible flowers are very contemporary along with dessert tacos. The students met the brief very well with a range of colourful and eye catching meals.

From the Middle Years Coordinator

It is hard to believe we are already at the end of the second week of Term 2.  While we welcome the change in seasons, the routines for learning are well established by this time of the year. Your daughter knows her teachers better than earlier in the year, and understands the expectations of her subjects.
