From the Middle Years Coordinator

11.05.18

It is hard to believe we are already at the end of the second week of Term 2.  While we welcome the change in seasons, the routines for learning are well established by this time of the year. Your daughter knows her teachers better than earlier in the year, and understands the expectations of her subjects.

In conversations with our Year 8s, many have said they feel so much more comfortable at the beginning of this term. They feel like they have always been here. This is a result of the ongoing commitment of our teachers and support staff who strive to ensure that all students, but particularly Year 8s settle into our college life. We hope that the Learning Reviews held yesterday and next week, further that connection with Kildare College.

For Year 9s the NAPLAN online tests will occur next week from Tuesday 12 May – Friday 18 May inclusive during the first two lessons.  Students will undertake the tests in the following order each day: Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy. If you would like your daughter to complete further practice in anticipation of the tests, the website link is https://www.nap.edu.au/online-assessment/public-demonstration-site

Visits to our partner primary schools have started this week and will continue over the course of the next few weeks. This is part of the transition process for students who will commence at the college in 2019. They have the opportunity to meet our current students and hear about the college from them. Thank you to the staff and students involved in the process.
