Year 7 Wellbeing Day

20.06.19

The morning began with Year 7 students enthusiastically making their way to the Brigidine Centre gym for their Wellbeing day.  Students brought cushions, blankets, glue, scissors and pencil cases to use during the day.

The first session was about getting students to introduce themselves to others including details like their name, their nickname, who their favourite fictional character is and why and their favourite place. Following this they wrote down a worry that was placed in a suit case and taken away to try and lighten the load from the students.

One of the fun parts of the day was designing and making a cover for their journal. Lots of glitter, glue and sparkles added to the excitement. After recess students were provided with strategies to deal with conflict. They have a 10 point plan of things they can do to sort things out.

Another part of the day included writing affirmations to each other. Ask your daughter about what was written about her.

After lunch we started with a meditation. It was amazing to see 100 students totally immersed in a meditation provided by our presenter. Someone was so relaxed she fell asleep!

The afternoon was spent encouraging students to be the best version of themselves they can be, in a world where images of perceived perfection are everywhere. Key messages from the afternoon included being strong young women who are confident and can meet challenges that come their way.

Takeaways from the day included their journal, wrist bands, affirmations and commitment to be the best person they can be.
