Kildare College students celebrated Pi Day recently by participating in a pi(e) based competition. They were given the challenge of finding an approximation of the true value of the mathematical constant pi, π, using nothing but a ruler, string, pencil and paper... and a pie!
he winning group correctly calculated pi to three decimal places, obtaining a value of 3.142.
Lots of fun (and pie) was had by all as the calculated pi!
