Welcome Back Dr Julie Monis-Ivett OAM

15.08.19

We welcomed back to Kildare past scholar Dr Julie Monis-Ivett OAM to address our community at the Awards Assembly. Julie was a student in 1966 when Kildare opened its doors to its first students. However, it is for her humanitarian work in health support programs that culminated in Julie receiving an OAM in 2018.

Dr Monis-Ivett and Dr Joy O'Hazy started the Birthing Kit Project in 1999. Birthing Kits are small transportable bags that hold  a sheet of plastic, gloves, soap, cords, sterile scalpel blade and gauze. Everything needed to provide a safe and clean childbirth for women in remote regions of developing countries.

She was a wonderful and inspirational example to our current students of what can be achieved with passion and commitment.
