Term 2 was the first time our Year 10 students participated in Careers Week. This event allowed our students to experience workshops and presentations within university and VET environments at a range of locations including Flinders University Bedford and Tonsley campuses, University of South Australia City West Campus, University of Adelaide and Queensford College. It also included a day at Kildare listening to a range of speakers answer career orientated questions about future study, career matching and options available.
Highlights of the week included barista skills and child care experience at Queensford College, engineering one's own perfume and glancing in on the world of microorganisms at University of Adelaide, thinking like a lawyer and creating a hotel business at Flinders Bedford and building roller coasters at Flinders Tonsley.
It is hoped that these experiences will allow the students to understand some of the university and VET courses better whilst also gaining further insight into the options that are available to them in the future.
We look forward to a successful subject selection process this term as the students get to implement their new found knowledge.
