National Reconciliation Week – (27May - 3 June)

11.06.19

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared cultures, histories and achievements and to explore how all of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in our country.

“Grounded in Truth: Walk Together with Courage” was the theme for 2019. These words call on all Australians from all backgrounds to have the “courage to walk together” to foster positive relationships that contribute to a better future for all.

A number of activities were held at Kildare College that demonstrated our commitment to Reconciliation week. These included:

  • The unveiling of the Reconciliation week theme in morning PC classes and staff morning prayer through digital presentations.
  • Morning prayers based around reconciliation each day during morning PC classes and staff prayer.
  • An amazing array of student activities and displays in the Resource Centre.
  • A whole school Reconciliation Mass attended by the local Tea Tree Gully Indigenous Elders, parents, staff and students. The liturgy included a powerful moving dance piece titled ‘Affirmations’ it was performed by Kildare College dance students.
  • Light refreshments with the Elders and students followed the liturgy.
