Lighthouse Disability shines light on the value of volunteering and transferrable skills

We welcomed Diane Ashford from Lighthouse Disability who spoke to the Year 11 and 12 Workplace Practices classes. Diane, the Volunteer Coordinator shared with the class the importance of volunteering as a young person whom may be seeking employment or is wanting to gain experience within their preferred industry of future work.

She discussed the many personal benefits, from improving self-esteem and confidence as well as developing many work skills like expanding communication skills, gaining experience of working within a team and further building organisational and time management skills.

We would like to thank Diane for taking the time to come and speak to our students. We have had a long term relationship with Lighthouse Disability and wish to continue to support each other to foster community connections, as this is how students learn the value of working in the local community.
