We write to you with a further update with the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The health and wellbeing of our community is our first priority as a College and in light of the current situation, the following changes to our scheduled program have either been postponed or cancelled:
- Parents and Friends Committee Meeting this evening has been cancelled
- SACGSSA Athletics Carnival has been cancelled for tomorrow
- Year 9 Retreat has been postponed:
- Students will now attend their normal classes at the College on this day. We are sorry that the girls will be disappointed, but please let them know that at this stage, it is a postponement, not a cancellation of the Year 9 Retreat and we will look to see what is possible when the situation improves.
- Excursions will be assessed on an individual basis
- Whole Assembly has been cancelled
- Learning Reviews: Further information about how these interviews may take place will be provided in due course.
- We are awaiting further direction from Catholic Education South Australia (CESA) regarding Saturday morning sport
Students have been reminded of the importance of good hand washing practices and respiratory care. Posters from the authorised health authorities have been placed in all toilets and on SEQTA.
We are also requesting that our students:
- take all books/resources home and only bring the resources they need for school with them each day
- take their laptop home everyday
Should there be any indication of a suspected case of COVID-19 at Kildare, we will be in immediate contact with the Department of Health and take advice. The advice could include a school closure with the duration determined by the Department of Health and CESA.
Please note the following:
- Families and staff will be notified by SMS and email in the event of school closure
- If it is necessary to close the College for an extended amount of time, teachers will communicate with their classes via digital platforms such as SEQTA and other learning platforms. More information will be given to students and families if the need arises.
- Students who are absent due to illness from school can access SEQTA and direct messaging as usual.
- In relation to SACE studies, especially around assessments, we will take advice from the SACE Board.
Families are asked to notify the College as soon as possible via principal@kildare.catholic.edu.au if your daughter:
- is being tested for COVID-19 due to a suspected case
- has been isolated due to being in close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19
- has been isolated due to being in close contact with someone who is being tested for COVID-19. Close contact is defined as someone who has had a least 15 minutes of face to face contact with a confirmed case, or shared a closed space with someone for more than two hours with a confirmed case
Please let us know if you have any queries.
Thank you for your incredible support and understanding as we carefully navigate through this situation together.
Yours sincerely
Tina Neate
Principal
