Vinnies Winter Sleepout

29.08.19

In Week 4 of this term our Year 7 students, supported by several students from our Vinnies Group, participated in our very first Vinnies Winter Sleepout.

The evening started with a shared dinner with students and families of soup cooked by our own Vinnies Group, and a sausage sizzle. After dinner we said goodbye to our families and were then privileged to have Jayne Shortt from St Vincent de Paul share some facts about homelessness and explain how St Vincent de Paul supports the homeless in our community.

This was followed by a range of fun activities that the students and staff really enjoyed. After a supper, students snuggled into bed and watched a movie, Sing, on the big screen.

The following morning we rose early, shared a lovely breakfast and families returned to pick up their daughters. The sleepover was a very successful event, we raised awareness of homelessness in our community and our community came together to donate cans of soup that we will hand over to St Vincent de Paul during our next assembly.

Thank you to all families and students who participated in our sleepout. We are already looking forward to next year's sleepout.
