Fair Trade EXPO

07.06.19

During recent studies around Fair Trade, students developed a better understanding of global issues that have certainly challenged their views about the goods they purchase locally; in particular chocolate, coffee, clothing and even gold!

Having discovered that many manufacturers use crops and resources that are harvested by growers and miners who use child slave labour, the students held an EXPO to inform and educate Year 7 and Year 8 students about these issues.

The basis of the day was to encourage others to decide whether local supermarkets and major retailers should be more socially aware about the products they sell. Arguing from different stakeholders’ perspectives allowed the students to pass on their insights into our world global economy and highlight the impacts our actions can have on other people around the world.
