What a difference a term makes! When I spoke to some of our Year 7 and Year 8 students on their return to school last week, they said they felt like they had always been at Kildare College and that primary school seemed like "ages ago". While I am sure there were some feelings of disappointment the holidays were over, many students were ready to return and engage in the opportunities that lay ahead in Term 2.

This week our Year 7 and Year 9 students will undertake the Online NAPLAN test. Some students find the NAPLAN test extremely stressful, while others take it in their stride. Please reassure your daughter if she is feeling nervous that she will be OK, and that all that is required is that she tries her best. NAPLAN data is one of the sources that is used to inform our teaching and learning programs here at Kildare College.

At the end of last term the Year 7 students attended Point Malcolm as part of the Girls Achieve Program. We were fortunate with the weather and the students enjoyed the sand castle building competition and playing on equipment designed for teenagers.

Year 8 students will attend a retreat later in the term. For many of them, this may be the first time attending a retreat. The retreat program at the College provides the opportunity for students to have a day away from school, build connections with their peers and have some time to reflect on life.

Year 9 students will attend Latitude as part of the Girls Achieve Program in a few weeks time. This excursion is always a hit as the students have the venue almost to themselves and can be challenged to move out of their comfort zone, while in a safe and secure environment.  As always there are many activities planned across different subject areas to keep our students engaged.
