Attendance has a major influence on educational outcomes. To get the most out of education, students need to attend school every day. Research suggests that students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve the results they desire and complete their schooling.
Each day missed is associated with falling behind academically, leading to fewer subject choices, which ultimately impacts achievement in Year 11 and Year 12. Non-attending students may also suffer socially because it can affect their relationships with other students, leading to social isolation.
At Kildare College, we encourage and challenge students to engage in a lifelong love of learning. We want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school each and every day. It is never too late to improve your daughter’s attendance.
We are here to help. If your daughter is finding every day attendance challenging, there are a number of key staff who are able to provide short term or ongoing support. These people include your daughter’s Pastoral Care Teacher, House Leader, Middle and Senior Years Coordinators and College Social Worker.
