Earlier this term, the Year 12 students had the opportunity to experience what has become one of the highlights of their schooling journey – the Year 12 Retreat.
The retreat offered our students the perfect opportunity to enrich their faith, form strong friendship bonds and remove themselves from their fast-paced world at the very start of the school year, as they prepared to take on their final year of studies. With a focus on exploring self, relationships with family and friends as well as their relationship with God, all students eagerly participated in the activities, creating memorable experiences for their time on Year 12 Retreat.
Students were provided with time, space and structured activities to discover themselves and each other over their three days. The opportunity to take a break from the busyness of the world and everyday life was very much welcomed, as they were able to instead focus on strengthening their relationships with each other. The retreat asked students to stop and reflect on their attitudes, values and interactions within their relationships with themselves, one another and family members. Discussing these relationships also provided the opportunity for the students to develop their thinking about their relationship with God.
Activities based on individual and communal reflection and sharing allowed students to make the most of their time away from the classroom, extra-curricular, social, work and family commitments. Other special highlights of the retreat included the teachers sharing their personal testimonies and a beautiful and moving liturgy that was designed in collaboration by the entire Year 12 cohort and staff.
Both the students and the staff were grateful for the opportunity that was provided for reflection, individual growth and self-discovery in a shared and supportive environment.
