The Middle Year’s students have had a wonderful start to the year. They are settling well into their classes and engaging in a wide variety of learning activities.
You may have noticed that your daughter is starting to bring home more homework and have a few assignments to work on. Developing good homework routines in the middle years is vital to success in the senior years. Please keep in mind that there is a homework timetable which assigns three subjects per night. Year 7 and 8 students should be spending a maximum of one hour per night on homework and Year 9 students up to 1 ½ hours. If you are concerned about the amount of homework your daughter is undertaking, please make sure that you speak with your daughter’s Pastoral Care Teacher or her subject teacher.
The first opportunity for the Middle Year’s cohort to come together with the parish community, was at our Middle Year’s Mass.
Our Year 7 students enjoyed a trip to the beach in Week 3. Once they arrived at Pt Malcom Reserve, they headed down to the beach to build sand castles. The drizzle didn’t dampen any spirits as the students built their marvellous creations within the theme of the ‘Animal Kingdom’. After lunch, the students engaged in a variety of outdoor activities where they were able to connect with their peers.
Our Year 8 students head off to camp this week. I look forward to sharing the exciting stories we will bring back with us.
