At the start of this Semester, Kildare College started an environmental committee.
At our fortnightly meetings we discuss possible ideas or projects that we can implement within our College community to help the environment. One of the first things that we realised and took action about was the fact that not every classroom had a paper and cardboard recycling bin. Basic paper and carboard recycling is one of the simplest ways that we can help our environment, but we need to do it correctly.
As a committee we are working on more ideas to increase environmental awareness at our College. We have visited our canteen and discussed ways that we can reduce plastic waste and transition to use more eco friendly products. For example, eliminating plastic wrap and using paper or cardboard containers instead of plastic ones.
If you are passionate about helping the environment and think you would like to be a part of the environmental committee, you are most welcome to attend our meetings next year.
