Old Scholars Message 'To look After Yourself,

31.10.19

Monica Ring, one of our past students came to talk to the Year 9 Religion class about self-care and self-love.

Monica graduated from Kildare in 2010 and since then she has become a counsellor and works full time at Centrelink. Monica has also written a book called Luminous which contains a 20-step program to self-care.

Monica spoke to the Year 9 students who sat spell bound, listening to what she had to say. She is a young woman who is passionate about making a difference and helping those around her. She puts this into practice at Centrelink where she cares about her clients and it is evident in her interests.

Monica’s family originally came from Sudan and she has been instrumental in setting up 2 schools there. While she was talking to the students her wealth of experience and wisdom were evident. Her message for the students was to look after themselves, embrace their responsibilities, to be true to who they are and to appreciate their opportunities. She emphasized that they are enough as they are, that they don’t need to please everyone around them and that it is their life and to make the choices that are right for them. Her parting words to the students were to be kind, uplifting and supportive of each other.

Thank you Monica for your words of wisdom and for sharing your book with us.
