On Monday of week 5 we celebrated our Opening College Mass. The theme of this mass was HOSPITALTY: Welcoming all.
This was our first Eucharistic celebration in our new Brigidine Centre and it was a great community celebration as we stopped to consider the significance of what Hospitality looks like in our community. a hospitality not just seen as a welcome, but a hospitality that allows us the opportunity to really be in the presence of others. To listen to them. To get to know them.A hospitality not just seen as a welcome, but a hospitality that allows us the opportunity to really be in the presence of others. To listen to them. To get to know them. To walk with them. This is what Jesus did, and it is what Brigid showed us that we are all capable of doing it.
In our Gospel reading, Jesus spoke of us all being made in the image of God, and therefore, the way we treat each other, is the way we treat God. The Gospel challenges us to ensure that we bring the Kingdom to those we encounter, ensuring that we are a community where people are filled with a hope that brings comfort, dignity and worth. A community where indeed, all feel welcome.
