As our College prepares to wind down as we approach the end of what has been an enormous Term 1, and in particular, given this challenging time of uncertainty, it is important that we remember as a community the true significance of Easter and what it brings.
Holy Week brings a sense of both past and present. In experiencing the solemnity of Holy Week and Easter, we reflect on the life of Jesus and his truly human presence in our lives. His own suffering and death showed his courage and sacrifice in order to fulfill the promise that we may have forgiveness and life. From this darkness, we gain a sense of hope and new life through Jesus’ resurrection.
Despite the sadness, unforeseen challenges and constraints that recent circumstances in the world have brought to us in many different ways, sharing a sense of community and celebrating all that is good has always been important to us here at Kildare College. In light of this and during a time like this, it was even more pertinent to share our communal thoughts and prayers, regardless of where we may be. With this in mind, we endeavoured to find a way in which our community would still be able to partake in our celebration of Easter and use the occasion to remind ourselves of the shared sense of hope, love and new beginnings that Easter brings.
For the very first time, our Easter Liturgy was a virtual experience shared by both those on campus and our students who are participating in Online Learning from home.
At the end of what has been an exceptional term and start to the school year, we have much to be thankful for over the last ten weeks. As we enter Holy Week, we pray that the coming days bring a sense of renewal for all of us. We also pray that all members of our community have an opportunity, over the upcoming period of rest, to spend time with loved ones and, that between the chocolate eggs and incessant news reports of late, we are able to reflect upon Easter and grasp its true meaning… Easter reminds us that hope must never be lost for as dark as the road may seem, there is always light at the end of it. May we be granted time, rest and peace to count our blessings, for there are still many in this beautiful life.
Finally, may this Easter season bring hope for new beginnings and blessings of love, peace and joy for us all. Go gently and stay well.
Warm wishes,
