Researching Environmental Issues

16.03.18

The Year 11 Outdoor Education class is researching environmental issues to do with conservation.

As part of this course we took a day trip to West Lakes Aquatics Centre in order to partake in kayaking around West Lakes. The day was split in to two parts consisting of an educational environmental tour of West Lakes which included the history of the area and current environmental concerns.

The second part of the day involved students learning more about controlling kayaks and playing a range of games and activities. These activities included canoe polo, racing, rafting and basic paddle training. During these activities, some of us were unfortunate enough to have capsized or lost items in the lake, some more than others.
