Embracing Change

In today’s world, change is a big part of being successful. Not only is change good but it is accelerating at an increasingly rapid pace. This means that as a College, it is our role to keep adapting to the ever-changing world of learning.

At Kildare College, we are constantly looking for ways to improve how we do things and how students learn best. If we do not learn to embrace change and if we do not move forward, we will be left behind. So, whether it is having to learn new technology or adopting a way of learning or introducing a new House to our College, it is important that we seek different ways, so that each student can fulfil her true potential.

Some of the changes that we have introduced at Kildare College this year include the following:

  • New Nagle House
  • Year 8 and 9 Maths Pathways program
  • Year 9 STEM program
  • Year 11 PE
  • Year 12 Nutrition
  • And of course, our new Multi-purpose building construction has started – due for completion at the end of the year.

Whenever changes are introduced, there can be moments of confusion, but we do ask that you work with us, trust us and know that at the heart of every decision made at Kildare College, it is done for the sole purpose of providing an inspiring and challenging education for your daughter.

Taking one step at a time and be willing to go back in order to move forward

With each change, it is carefully planned out, but it is planned with small steps forward. Success is not linear, so with any changes, there can be times when we have to move back to go forward.

You are not going to be able to see the full scale change overnight, but by starting with an end goal, working backwards and breaking the goals into small action steps, the end goal will be stronger by enabling all the interim steps to be consolidated and understood. Understanding that this is part of the process removes the uncertainty around it, and hence easier to embrace.

Making mistakes

In today’s society, mistakes are not celebrated and hence perfection is sought constantly and so unrealistic. This is unfortunate because mistakes, when done safely, is a good thing. Being curious and making mistakes is a part of life and hence required for taking on risks and pursuing endeavours to achieve better outcomes. Mistakes are part of life experiences – we learn from them.

Change is necessary. Our aim is to challenge our students so that they learn to be resilient, creative and independent learners. Learning to embrace change will enable us to work together so that we can produce the best possible outcomes for your daughter at Kildare College.

Entering Year 12

Often there is a lot of hype and pressure for students about Year 12. Whilst it is the final year of their education at Kildare and it is important, it is worth remembering that students are far more than their ATAR score.

Student Safety

The safety of your daughter is our highest priority. Before and after school drop offs are a busy time on the roads with many students walking, riding and using public transport to get to school.

Recently we have been experiencing more congestion regarding cars blocking intersections or obstructing other road users when families have been dropping off or collecting their daughters on the Valiant Rd and Mercedes Drive intersection.

An update on the Multi-Purpose Centre

It is all steam ahead on the new Multi-purpose Centre at Kildare College.

After making the announcement to our community, the ground was turned and the building work commenced. We’ve seen the demolition of the maintenance shed, netball courts and car park, and the removal of some of the trees. The ground has been levelled with the bulk excavation and fill to building plateau currently taking place.

Its footprint on the Kildare College masterplan is impressive, and we’re looking forward to keeping you up to date as the project commences.

Year 8 Camp

On Wednesday 21 February, our Year 8 students travelled to Mylor for the annual three day camp. They were joined by the Year 11 Peer Support Leaders who built on the connections made at the Year 8 Orientation Day.

Everyone involved had an amazing time. The camp is designed to help the students get to know each other, try activities they may not have experienced before and build relationships with their peers. This was certainly achieved! Throughout the three days, the students displayed a positive attitude and enthusiasm for every task. They showed determination, resilience and readily supported their peers in helping them to achieve the set goals.
