Year 12 Food and Hospitality

They converted a subway into an 'Open Grilled Chicken Sub' using lettuce as a substitute wrap for bread, combined with a creamy avocado based sauce. A Big Mac was altered into a 'MiniMac' that has kale and green vegetables blended into the beef patty, served with zucchini fries. The last group re-created KFC's popcorn chicken into 'Popping Slaw' which was baked chicken pieces with a nutritional coating along with coleslaw served with a Greek yogurt dressing.

With Year 8 classes as the taste testers most of the nutritional additions to these meals went down a treat with many positive comments about the meals the Year 12s created. Year 8s were able to speak with the Year 12s about healthier meal options as well as take away the recipes to make the meals they tried at home.
